   A very early version of the club crest. This crest was never used on a shirt but was the official club crest and appeared on the front of match day programmes and the clubs headed paper. Whilst the badge looks very similar to the Manchester United crest in style, it was actually used by Liverpool first. Manchester United didnt adopt this style of crest until the 1960's and if anyone has any 1950's Liverpool match day programmes then you will see that it featured on the front of the programme way back then. I have recreated this crest a few times with different styles of Liverbird before settling with this version, if you look at the Liverbird crests which are around the city they differ greatly from the modern day version, some have wings down and short beaks, others have wings up and long beaks, this one is as near as I could get to the original one. Thanks to the person who mailed me a clear scan of the crest to use as a reference.
